Black truffle’s contain many minerals. Calcium, potassium phosphorus, iron and magnesium are some of the minerals that are found in high amounts in this fungus. Some of the vitamins within truffles are vitamin K, vitamin D and B group vitamins like riboflavin (vitamin B2), niacin (vitamin B3), pantothenic acid (vitamin B5).
Low in fat and cholesterol truffles have been known throughout the centuries to be a very strong aphrodisiacs. The scent of this fungus is very much similar to the male pheromone androstenone, which is probably why truffles are considered to be so effective as an aphrodisiac.
